Carrying Capacity
Carrying capacity is the amount of organisms that a certain space can support.
Carrying capacity is kind of like filling something up with water, only so much water can fit into that container without it over flowing. Just like out in the enviroment, certain areas can only support so many organisms before there becomes too many and they have to compete for food or leave to another area to live.
There are many different things that affect the carrying capacty such as amount of food, shelter, water, and space available. Carrying capacitys are not fixed, they can be altered with the enviroment and seasons changing. We cannot think of "land area" when we think of carrying capacity though because it depends on the amount of food and what organisms are living there, not how much land area there is, it varies from one community to the next.
