Biotic Factors
Any living thing that affects another organism is a biotic factor. All biotic factors need energy to do work or grow. The biotic factors are seperated into three catagories; consumers, decomposers, and producers.
Producers, or autotrophs, convert energy from photosynthesis or other sorces into food. Producers include plants and anything that uses photosyntheis to make energy.
Decomposers break down chemicals from consumers and producers (usally not alive) into forms where they can be reused. Decomposers include fungi, millipedes, flies, and worms.
Consumers,or heterotrophs, depend on producers to get food and energy. Consumers include humans, dogs, cats, cheetah, and any organism that eats something to get energy.
